Ability P & O to Participate in Breast Cancer Awareness
October 2007
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. will help to provide education and raise awareness as a healthcare exhibitor at the Breast Cancer Awareness Step'n Stride event taking place at the Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, October 20th at 10am.
The Step n'Stride event is a one mile walk. All proceeds stay local to the Hagerstown community through Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland Valley, Inc., a non-profit organization. The proceeds fund programs for early breast cancer detection and breast cancer support. Participants will be raising money for such services as mammograms, ultrasounds, wigs, hats, turbans, breast prostheses, bras, Camp Hope Survivors, and other support and educational services.
"With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month and Ability providing an increased number of breast prosthetics and post-mastectomy products," says Wendy Carter, COF & CFM of Ability, "We feel we can enhance peoples' knowledge about these items, as well as when and how to utilize them."
"Participating in this event is a wonderful way to support the breast cancer community," says Jeffrey M. Brandt, President & CEO of Ability, "We have already begun to discuss with event organizers how Ability can be more involved with the Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Awareness, Inc. organization to provide mastectomy services to those patients in need in coordination with other necessary cancer related services."
