Ability Supports Children's Advocacy Center

October 2007

Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc., headquartered in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, has purchased a table for eight at the upcoming 2nd Annual Snow Flake Dinner & Auction to benefit the Adams County Children's Advocacy Center. The event will be held on November 9, 2007 at the Historic Gettysburg Hotel.

The Adams County Children's Advocacy Center's mission is to meet the needs of children and families in our community by providing a community-based, child-focused center that facilitates a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach to the prevention, identification, investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse.

In one year of existence, the ACCAC has provided services for 114 abused children and their families. Nearly all of these children were the victims of sexual abuse. The ACCAC has committed their staff and volunteers to provide services to abused Adams County children and families at no cost and strives to assure the safety of the children in Adams County by offering free community educational programs to provide tools to prevent child abuse.

Should abuse occur, the ACCAC assists children and their families through the investigation process and provides therapeutic treatments to enable child victims to heal and develop into fully functioning adults.

"I grew up here in Gettysburg," says Jeffrey M. Brandt, CEO & founder of Ability, "Part of being a business owner is recognizing the social commitment to your local community and its agendas." Clay Barrow, VP & CIO of Ability, as well as Brandt's business partner also calls Gettysburg home, "As a parent, I feel it is important to create a community free of abuse. When this event was brought to my attention, I wanted very much to support it."
