Ability Supports Maryland Special Olympics
October 2007
The Frederick patient care facility of Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc., operated by John P. Jacobs, CPO, recently announced its support of Maryland Special Olympics.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for citizens with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
"The Special Olympics has also been dear to me," says Jacobs, "Ever since volunteering as a "Hugger" at Special Olympic events, I have had a deeper understanding of individuals with disabilities and the importance of supporting these types of programs. My office has enjoyed much success in the Frederick market over the past year and to be able to support non-profit organizations through my success is a special thing."
