Ability Hagerstown Sponsors MS Walk

April 2009

Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. is pleased to announce its "Mile Marker" sponsorship of the 20th Annual Walk MS (Multiple Sclerosis) 2009. Through partnership with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Western Maryland Chapter, the walk will begin on the Antietam Battlefield at 10am on Saturday, April 18, 2009.

Multiple Sclerosis interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the US and 2.5 million people worldwide. The National MS Society provides research, programs & services and fundraising. By 2010, the society will have raised 1.25 billion. Nearly 20% of the annual money raised stays right here in Maryland through Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland.

"I recently had the MS Society assist one of my patients with the purchase of a brace," explains Jeffrey Quelet, CPO, VP and managing practitioner of the Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics Hagerstown patient care center, "I am giving a portion of that purchase right back to the community. It is important to maintain the MS Society's strength in the Western Maryland community."
