AOPA Policy Forum

Jeff Brandt, Ability Founder, CEO &CPO recently had the opportunity, through the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA), to provide expert testimony as the owner/operator of an O&P Practice that serves veterans of the VA Hospital System and speak on behalf of our professions’ patients’ good experiences as well as potential improvements to ensure the highest quality of care for veterans. As a result of the testimony, AOPA was invited to submit recommendations that would include outcomes-based methods/protocols for how the VA might better collaborate/coordinate care for amputees and brace wearers with community based providers to assure veterans get the right prosthesis/orthosis, not more or less than appropriate.

Jeff will be at the AOPA Policy Forum May 24th and 25th in Washington, DC to further educate and advance key legislative issues with members of Congress that affect Ability P&O patients. Much of the legislation offers common sense solutions that demonstrate how the P&O profession restores lives, mobility and independence- and puts people back to work. We wish all those attending Policy Forum the best of luck.
