Ability Sponsors Race For Recovery
February 2009
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. is pleased to announce its sponsorship of
the Race For Recovery. The event is a 5K Run & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk/Wheelchair
Roll to be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 9am at the West Goshen Park in Malvern,
PA.
There are currently 5.3 million Americans living with disabilities related to traumatic
brain injury. Approximately every 23 seconds, someone in the US sustains a traumatic
brain injury, resulting in 1.4 million brain injuries a year. In addition, over 50,000
people die each year as a result of a traumatic brain injury.
The Race For Recovery has been created to raise awareness and to promote safer choices,
in an effort to decrease the incidence and severity of traumatic brain injuries. Proceeds
from the run will benefit programs aimed at educating the public to prevent traumatic
brain injuries and also rehabilitation programs for those who have already suffered
a traumatic brain injury.
"I look forward to running in this event," says Jeffrey Brandt, CPO & CEO of Ability
Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc., "Jared Howell, CPO (managing practitioner of the
Exton, Pa patient care center) and I are ready to lace up our running shoes for such
a great cause. Many patients suffering from traumatic brain injuries utilize our services.
It's an opportunity to give back."
