Ability Offers Joseph Mazur Housing Scholarship
July 2006
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. is pleased to announce the first offering of the Joseph Mazur Housing Scholarship for students admitted to the Northwestern University Prosthetics and Orthotics program.
This scholarship is being awarded by Jeffrey M. Brandt, CPO, President of Ability P&O and graduate of both programs, in memory of his grandfather, Joseph Mazur, who lost his leg while serving in the Philippines during World War II.
All students accepted for the January 2007 semester are eligible to apply. The scholarship will be awarded to one student who demonstrates superior academic performance and a commitment to the O&P profession as described in a one-page personal statement.
Scholarship applications must be received by September 15th, 2006. The winner will be notified by October 1, 2006. The scholarship will be formally awarded in early 2007 during a ceremony held at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago, where the exhibit "Beyond Broken Bones: Orthopedics and Prosthetics" includes a display of Joseph's Mazur's original prosthetic limb.
