Ability Supports Georgetown Pediatric Oncology
September 2009
For the third year, Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. fielded a team on Saturday, September 12th in the 4th Annual Wiffleball Tournament fundraiser to benefit the Georgetown University Hospital Department of Pediatric Oncology. The event, which was started by cancer survivor Noah Grove and his parents, was held at Staley Field in Frederick, Maryland.
Each year the fundraiser has exceeded expectations, with this year‘s event expected to raise over $20,000 from nearly two dozen sponsors. Noah himself was diagnosed and treated at Georgetown University Hospital in 2004 when he lost his limb secondary to osteosarcoma.
Team Ability fielded a team from its Hagerstown and Frederick patient care centers. “I have known Noah since 2004,” explains Jeffrey Quelet, CPO, Owner of Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. and Noah’s prosthetist, “Noah is an amazing kid. His resiliency is something we can all learn from. It’s truly a great thing that he is giving back.”
Rachel Grove, Noah’s mom, puts it very simply, “It is a way to help families going through what we went through.”
