Ability to Participate in Women's Health & Wellness Conference

February 2009

WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital will be holding its 14th annual Women's Health & Wellness Conference on Saturday, March 7, 2009 in the Gettysburg College Student Union Building. The conference begins at 7:00 am.

Ability's Wendy Carter, CFom (Certified Fitter Orthotics and post-Mastectomy) & Director of the Mastectomy Division, will be exhibiting at the event. "This is a great opportunity to create awareness," explains Carter, "This year's theme is: Finding the Treasures of Good Health. Participating in local health and wellness fairs always leads to increased education. By educating others about their post-mastectomy options, we are fulfilling one of Ability's missions."

Wendy has seen the demand for post-mastectomy products and services increase across the Hagerstown, Gettysburg and Frederick regions. "People just don't know where to find post-mastectomy breast forms," says Carter, "We have spent a considerable amount of time marketing our services to both patients and physicians."

While post-mastectomy forms are available in multiple off-the-shelf sizes, they can also be custom-made using scanner technology, allowing for ideal symmetry and a contoured fit. Most insurance companies reimburse for post-mastectomy breast forms and bras.
