John P. Jacobs, CPO
Certified Prosthetist Orthotist
John P. Jacobs, CPO, is an American Board for Certification (ABC) certified prosthetist and orthotist.
Prior to becoming a prosthetist/orthotist, John worked as a nuclear medicine technologist. As he was exposed to amputees requiring prosthetic care, he realized he desired a more rewarding career. The independence patients gained when provided with a brace or artificial limb made a deep impression on him — so he explored this interest further by visiting prosthetic and orthotic facilities.
John then completed his prosthetics training through the University of Connecticut, which was followed by a residency at Central Brace and Prosthetics in Lexington, KY. In addition to providing prosthetic care within four hospitals in the area, he had the opportunity to coordinate numerous outreach clinics that serviced rural mountain areas of Kentucky.
Recently, John became certified to fit both the Ossur Proprio foot/ankle module as well as Otto Bock’s microprocessor C-leg for above-knee or transfemoral amputees.
John continues to provide the highest level of care to his patients as a prosthetic practitioner at Ability Prosthetics and Orthotics’ Frederick, MD patient care facility.
