Taffy E. Bowman, CPO
Certified Prosthetist Orthotist
Taffy E. Bowman, CPO, is an American Board for Certification (ABC) certified prosthetist and orthotist who became interested in the field during her first job after college.
Taffy graduated from Eastern College in St. Davids, PA with a bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy. After completing her undergraduate work, she worked for Ultraflex Systems, Inc., a niche orthotic manufacturing company located in Malvern, PA.
Taffy soon discovered the unique aspects of the orthotics and prosthetics profession and the possibility of combining hands-on skills and creativity with patient care. After three years of working in the orthotics and prosthetics profession, Taffy decided to pursue her graduate studies in the O&P field.
After graduating from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Orthotic & Prosthetic programs, Taffy completed her prosthetic and orthotic residencies. She participated in various physician-directed clinics during her residency, including pediatrics and prosthetics. Following her residencies, she worked in clinical practice.
Taffy then returned to work for Ultraflex and served as the director of clinical affairs. During this time, she lectured extensively on the topics of managing gait dysfunction and pediatric spasticity management both within the O&P community and to multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals. She worked to coordinate research efforts and was involved in the research and development efforts of emerging prosthetic and orthotic technology. Taffy has also been published on several occasions, including publications in the field’s premier Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Taffy enjoys the variety of care opportunities her profession offers and finds special reward in working with amputees. As an Ability practitioner, Taffy continuously provides the highest level of patient care and services to those she has the pleasure of serving.
