Through his career path at the Rehab Institute of Chicago and now in private practice, Brian gained diverse experiences ranging from using advanced research technologies in both upper and lower limb prosthetics to effective business strategies. Brian recently joined the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists (AAOP) Outcomes Research Committee and is creating a forum for greater collaboration among researchers and clinicians.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Ability and the O& P industry that will ultimately benefit our patients” explains Jeffrey Brandt, CPO and President of Ability, “The advancement of technology in many devices has created a knowledge gap in the applicability of these devices and associated treatment protocols. These are the types of forums we need to focus on right now- establishing ourselves as experts in orthotics and prosthetics through direct engagement with insurance companies. We don’t want to be professing our knowledge over the phone during the pre-authorization process. We want to be able to work with insurance companies to ensure the most ideal outcome for each patient.”
