Ability Prosthetics to Host Adapted Swim Clinic in Charlotte
August 2011, Gettysburg, PA– Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, a recognized national leader in prosthetic care will host a First Swim clinic for those with physical challenges on Saturday, October 22, 2011. The clinic will be held at the Johnston YMCA pool facility, located at 3025 N. Davidson in Charlotte. First Swim is a program of OPAF & The First Clinics who offer adapted recreational opportunities to those with physical challenges across the country. First Swim offers anyone with a physical challenge the chance to discover the great equality that water activities offer and will help participants feel comfortable both in and around the water. Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics offers First Swim to anyone who would like to try swimming as an activity for a lifetime.
First Swim will be led by Jason Wening, MS, CPO, a five time gold medal winning Paralympic swimmer. Jason, a bilateral below knee amputee, competed in the Paralympic Games inSydney,BarcelonaandAtlantaand now brings his expertise as a Paralympic swimmer and coach to First Swim for Ability. Jason serves as Director of the First Swim clinic program for OPAF & The First Clinics and will coach clinic participants from both the pool deck and in the pool. All participants need to bring is a desire and a smile! Jason will be assisted by Mabio Costa, a below knee amputee and tri-athlete. Both instructors will offer tips and coaching to improve swim ability.

First Swim is just one example of that kind of giving back to the community and the patients they serve.
